Bobby became a hunter after his wife was possessed and he killed her.  He still lives in the same house on the premises of  Singer Salvage Yard.  He has known the Winchester clan since 1991 but left John on not so good terms before John went hunting for the YED.   He is the go to guy for research, weapons, etc. when it comes to hunting for the boys.
